The Artist: Adam Nienow (Costa Mesa, CA)
Adam Nienow is an illustrator, animator, and graphic designer based in Costa Mesa, CA. Drawing on the sun-drenched scenery of his breezy beachside town, Adam's work weaves in vintage elements to create a clean, nostalgic, So-Cal style. In addition to working full time for a non-profit and designing for several freelance customers clients, Adam also runs his own brand. Nienow brand features Adam's for-sale fonts and prints, as well as caps, patches, and even skate decks featuring his work.
In his spare time, you'll find him surfing, skateboarding, and building his already impressive portfolio.
The Charity: Color Of Change (Oakland, CA)
Adam's chosen charity is Color of Change, and Oakland-based online organization that campaigns to fight racial injustice. Color of Change helps people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by over 1.7 million members, they move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile environment for Black people in America.
By designing strategies powerful enough to fight racism and injustice—in politics and culture, in the work place and the economy, in criminal justice and community life, and wherever they exist— Color of Change is changing both the written and unwritten rules of society. They mobilize members to end practices and systems that unfairly hold Black people back, and champion solutions that move us all forward.
